Dear Students,
We are happy to inform you that all the engineering students in our country now have the opportunity to learn from the best professors. The Indian Institutes of Technology and Indian Institute of Science along with the support of Ministry of Human Resource Development have launched one of the greatest initiatives in history called National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) to disseminate teaching/learning content of high quality using technology. The main objective of NPTEL is to enhance the quality of engineering education in the country by developing  curriculum based video and web courses.These courses cover the syllabus prescribed by universities approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Some More Details about NPTEL: In the first phase of the NPTEL project, supplementary content for 129 web courses in
engineering/science have been developed. Around 110 courses have been developed in video format, with each course comprising of approximately 40 or more one-hour lectures. In the next phase other premier institutions are also likely to participate in creating more content.

The content (Video and web courses) is available for free on YouTube (www.youtube.com/iit) and on NPTEL  website  (www.nptel.iitm.ac.in) to everyone. Since bandwidth is a constraint for  many students for downloading from the website, students can obtain these materials in the form of DVDs at an affordable price. A nominal course fee (Rs.200 per course + postal charges) is collected from students just to ensure that the course distribution through DVDs is financially sustainable.
